Each evening a different national team takes over the bay and choreographs <strong>roughly 20 minutes<\/strong> of fireworks to an original soundtrack. The shells are launched from barges moored offshore, so the whole curve of La Croisette becomes a front-row seat. A jury and the public score each show, and the best team takes home the festival&#8217;s coveted trophy, the <em>Vestale d&#8217;Argent<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It is, quite simply, the biggest free night out of the Riviera summer. The <strong>train<\/strong> is by far the smartest option on festival nights: the Nice&ndash;Cannes line runs late and drops you a <strong>5-minute walk<\/strong> from La Croisette, with none of the parking nightmare. If you drive, park on the edge of town (or at a park-and-ride) and walk in.
