Updated · our on-the-ground pick, checked this month
Nice quietly has one of the best wine bar scenes on the Riviera, built on natural growers, a 160-year-old cave, and the city’s own Bellet vineyards. After a lot of “research”, here’s where I actually drink. Top of the list: La Part des Anges, a wine shop where you pick any bottle and drink it at shop prices, no corkage.

The 8 wine bars
1. La Part des Anges
1My #1 pick, and it’s not close
A cave à manger going since 1998: wine shop up front, communal bar in the back. The magic is the pricing, no corkage, so you grab any bottle off the shelf and drink it at shop price. Around 300 natural, organic and biodynamic references, a rotating list by the glass from about €5, plus charcuterie and cheese all day. Locals, growers, zero pretension.
Glasses from ~€5, no corkage
🕒 Roughly 10:00-20:30, closed Sunday
🍷 Natural/organic/biodynamic, cheese & charcuterie
2. Cave Bianchi
2The most authentic experience
A cave founded in 1860 at the edge of the Old Town, part shop, part self-styled “wine museum”. The reason to come: a daily sommelier-led tasting at 6:30 pm for about €7, walking you through regional wines with real knowledge. Cheapest way in Nice to actually learn what you’re drinking.
Daily 6:30pm tasting ~€7
🕒 Daily tasting 18:30
🍷 Founded 1860, regional wines
3. Cave de la Tour
3Old Town institution, local wines
Run by the Gazan family since 1947, this is where you drink Bellet, the tiny appellation grown in the hills of Nice itself. Granito counter, barrel tables, Niçoise plates, and a crowd that’s more local than tourist. Glasses from about €4. Come at apéro hour and you’re in the real Nice.

4. Au Cœur des Terroirs
4For a serious tasting
Run by a former head sommelier of a 2-Michelin-star restaurant, and a Wine Spectator award winner. This is the one for a proper, educational tasting rather than a casual glass, small groups, a cool cellar, real teaching. Book ahead; expect from around €25 for a guided session.

5. Yolo Wine Bar
5Natural wine + great cheese
A small, warm spot in the Carré d’Or where the owner greets everyone. Adventurous natural wines, generous cheese and charcuterie boards, and creative tapas. Opens around 5 pm, ideal for an early-evening apéro before dinner.

6. La Treille
6Tiny Old Town, orange & natural
A little Vieux Nice wine bar leaning into orange and natural wines, paired with Mediterranean small plates (pan con tomate, goat cheese, tabbouleh). Open evenings, Tuesday to Sunday, and cosy enough that you’ll end up chatting to the next table.

7. Vino Margaux
7The intimate flash tasting
A tiny caviste on Rue Droite in the Old Town, all stone and wood. Ask about the “Flash Tasting”: around €10 for three wines picked for your taste. Curated small-producer French bottles, themed tastings on reservation. Great for a quick, personal detour.

8. Maison Corail
8Organic Provence, terrace vibe
A little Vieux Nice address with a mustard-yellow façade, pouring organic Provence wines alongside home-cooked plates with a local twist. A handful of terrace tables spill onto the street in summer. Evenings, Tuesday to Sunday.

Tips for a wine night in Nice
- Start at Cave Bianchi’s 6:30 pm tasting to calibrate your palate cheaply, then move on.
- Ask for Bellet at least once, it’s grown in the hills of Nice and you won’t find it in many places.
- Most Old Town bars are minutes apart, so build a little crawl: Cave de la Tour, La Treille, Vino Margaux.
- Cheese and charcuterie are the move at La Part des Anges and Yolo, order a board and slow down.
- Book ahead for Au Cœur des Terroirs and any themed tasting.
