Water Sports Near Cannes: Best Spots & Prices 2026

There is a lot of water on this stretch of coast and plenty of ways to get on it. Around Cannes you can jet ski and parasail off the Croisette pontoons, paddle out to the Lérins islands, dive an underwater sculpture museum off Golfe-Juan, or kitesurf at Mandelieu. This guide maps out where to do each water sport near Cannes, roughly what it costs, and the one spot we send people to first.

That spot is Bat’Ski, a family-run base on the little La Figueirette beach in Théoule-sur-Mer, about 15 minutes from Cannes. Every water sport near Cannes, and where to do it

The high-adrenaline trio runs off the pontoons on La Croisette, Boulevard Jean Hibert and the Plages du Midi in summer. Jet ski is sold as accompanied rides or, if you hold a French licence, solo rentals. Parasailing lifts you behind the boat for the postcard view over the bay, and flyboard straps you to a water jet to rise a few metres out of the sea. Most operators open daily in July and August, weekends in June and September.

For the towed board sports, the easiest spot to reach without a marina booking is Bat’Ski in Théoule, 15 minutes past Cannes. Sessions run about 10 minutes on the water behind the boat, with an instructor who talks beginners up on the first go. Mornings are best, when the bay is glassy and the wake is clean. If you already ride, ask for wakeboard or wakefoil.

An e-foil is a board on a wing with a silent electric motor: once you balance it you literally rise out of the water and glide. Bat’Ski runs a short discovery and a longer initiation, both with a coach, and most people are foiling by the end of the first lesson. Suitable from around age 12.

The no-skill option, and some of the prettiest water near Cannes. Rent a paddleboard (SUP) or kayak by the hour on the Cannes beaches, or paddle out to the Îles de Lérins, the forested islands off the coast with clear, calm water that is ideal for a first try and for snorkelling. The clearest snorkelling near Cannes is around the Îles de Lérins. For scuba, dive clubs run trips to sites off Cap d’Antibes and Golfe-Juan, including the underwater eco-museum off Sainte-Marguerite, a set of giant sculptures sitting in just 3 to 5 metres of water that you can also snorkel. First-timers can do a supervised discovery dive (baptême).

When the wind is up, the board crowd heads to Palm Beach (Pointe Croisette) and the long beach at Mandelieu-la-Napoule, the main kitesurf and windsurf spots around Cannes. Lessons and gear hire are available in season. Bat’Ski also teaches windsurf and wingfoil as a French Sailing Federation base.

You can learn to sail with a club in Cannes or at Bat’Ski, a French Sailing Federation (FF Voile) base teaching on optimist, laser, catamaran, windsurf and wingfoil, with private lessons or multi-day kids’ camps. And the one thing almost no other base on the coast still offers: baby water ski from age 4, where small children are towed slowly on a stabilised boom with a monitor right there. That alone is why families drive over from Cannes and Nice.

If you only want one easy plan, this is it. Run by the same family of state-certified instructors since 1978, Bat’Ski sits on La Figueirette beach in Théoule-sur-Mer, about 15 minutes from Cannes in the red rock of the Esterel. In one calm cove you can do water ski, wakeboard, wakefoil, e-foil, sailing, paddle, kayak, catamaran and pedalo, and it is one of the very few bases left on the Côte d’Azur that still runs baby water ski from age 4. The terrace above the bay can also be privatised for a birthday, a stag or hen do or a company day.

Getting there (from Cannes & Nice)

Most water sports in Cannes are right on the beach along La Croisette and the Plages du Midi, walkable from the centre. Our pick, Bat’Ski, is on La Figueirette beach in Théoule-sur-Mer, just past Cannes where the Esterel begins.

• By car: about 15 minutes from Cannes on the coast road, or 40 to 50 minutes from Nice on the A8 (here is the full Nice to Cannes route). Parking near the Figueirette marina.
• By train: TER to Théoule-sur-Mer or La Figueirette, then a short walk to the beach. Easy without a car.
• By boat: if you have rented one, the cove is an easy stop along the Esterel coast.

Good to know before you go

• Book ahead in summer. July and August fill up, especially the kids’ slots. A WhatsApp the day before saves a wasted trip.
• Go in the morning for water ski and wakeboard, when the bay is flat.
• Jet ski needs a licence to ride solo in France. No licence? Take an accompanied ride.
• Bring a towel, sunscreen and water shoes. Small coves like Théoule are pretty but rocky in places.
